….Ban Activities of Local Security outfits in the Electoral Process
The Nasarawa State Police Command reiterates its commitment towards ensuring a conducive and enabling environment for the conduct of the 2024 LGA elections in the state.
According to a press release on Friday, 1st November 2024 signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in view of the above, the Police in synergy with other security agencies, will enforce the restriction of movement of Vehicles, Motorcycles and Tricycles from 12 am to 4 pm of November 2, 2024,, except for those on essential duty, as earlier stated by the Nasarawa State Government
It should be noted that local security outfits such as Vigilante/Hunters, Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES), Man’O’ war, Nigeria Legion, etc are exempted from participating in the conduct of the election.
While assuring members of the public of a hitch-free election, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, tasked all Police personnel and men of Sister Security Agencies deployed for the assignment to respect the fundamental human rights of the citizenry and operate within the confines of the laws and relevant laws guiding the conduct of the exercise.
Members of the public are advised to cooperate with all security personnel and render any support needed to ensure the success of the election in the state. They are further urged to go out en mass and discharge their civic responsibility without fear, as measures have been put in place to forestall any incident that disrupts the peaceful conduct of the elections.
