Police Rescue Kidnap Lecturer, Arrest One Notorious Criminal In Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Police operatives have rescued one Isaac Igbawua, a lecturer of the Department of Microbiology, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, who was whisked to an unknown destination from his residents at Old Barracks, Kokona LGA on Wednesday, 27th December 2023.

A statement on Friday, 29th December 2023 signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said that on Thursday, 28th December 2023 when information was received that some strange people wearing face masks were sighted in the forest at Ogba village, Nasarawa Eggon, and the police in collaboration with vigilante group mobilized to the scene.

“On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire but were gallantly repelled; they took to flight, and the victim was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family after undergoing medical examination at Police Clinic, Lafia, DSP Nansel said.

In a related development, on Thursday 28th December 2023, acting on credible information, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested one Daniel Favour Chukwuebukam 25yrs, a 200 Level student of the Department of Social Works, Federal University of Lafia.

A search warrant was executed at his residence where one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, four live ammunition, and Criminal Charms/Herbs were recovered as an exhibit.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada has commended the officers for a job well done and urged members of the public to always feed the police with adequate information to rid the state of criminals and assure them of utmost confidentiality.
