PPROs Conference: Day 2 Kicks Off With Vital Public Relations Lectures

Day 2 of the 4-Day PPRO’s conference kicked off on Tuesday with NIPR Syndicate Group Work, and this was followed by lectures on counteracting disinformation and misinformation by the former Commissioner for Information in Rivers State, Pastor Nsirim.

Also, a paper on “Understanding the Regulatory Environment Governing Public Relations Practice in Nigeria” was delivered by Barr. Karibi George (Chairman, NIPR Legal Advisory Committee).

Prof. E.S. Dandaura also took the PPROs on another vital topic, “Team Bonding and Emotional Intelligence for Security Officers.”

The final paper for the day, titled “Etiquette and Protocol Skills for Police Officers, was delivered by Dr. Monday Ashibogwu.

Recall that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, officially inaugurated the 4-day Police Public Relations Officers Conference in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, December 11, 2023.

The event, which is being organized in partnership with the German Government Federal Foreign Office through the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) as part of its support for the police reform process in Nigeria, is designed to enhance strategic communication within the law enforcement community and was met with enthusiasm and support from various stakeholders.

The Conference for Police Public Relations Officers and Public Relations Experts in the Force, themed “Enhanced Strategic Communication: Panacea for Effective Policing in Nigeria,” accentuates the pressing need for improved communication strategies within the law enforcement community to address contemporary challenges and gaps in communication between the police and the people.

The conference aims to equip police public relations officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to foster positive relationships between the police force and the public.
