Prosperity Cup DG Extends Yuletide Felicitations To Bayelsans.

Director-General of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa State Governor’s Football Tournament christened the Prosperity Cup, Mr. Ono Akpe has extended his warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to the good people of Bayelsa as the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

Mr. Akpe in a message expressed his sincere gratitude to the people of Bayelsa for their unwavering support and dedication towards the Prosperity Administration mandate of the Governor Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo as well as the hardworking Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Hon. Daniel Igali.

The statement highlighted the unity and resilience showcased by athletes and sports enthusiasts in the state with the latest victory coming from the Para Games in Abuja, where Bayelsa outclassed 36 States to retain the trophy.

According to him, the governor’s passion for sports development in Bayelsa since he assumed office has produced significant growth and recognition of Bayelsa on the global stage.

Mr Akpe noted that “the celebration of Christmas cherishes the values of love, compassion, and unity,” and acknowledged that “the season brings joy and harmony to every household, fostering a sense of togetherness and solidarity among us all.”

Mr Akpe further explained that Christmas was a season to show love and care for one another, adding that Bayelsans should use the opportunity offered by the season to enthrone peaceful co-existence across the State, particularly with the governor’s drive to promote excellence, inclusivity, and accessibility with sports.

“I advise all Christian Faithful to use the festive period for sober reflection and total spiritual renewal and devotion toward living in peace and harmony with adherents of other religions.”

He pointed out that Christmas is not just a time to engage in merry-making but also a time to reach out to the less privileged in society in tandem with the messages and teachings of Christ.

The DG urged everyone to celebrate responsibly and observe safety measures during the festive season, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with happiness, success, and abundant blessings.
