……….Calls on DPR to set up a Special Task Force

The Publisher of Swift Reporter has commended the prompt intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in ensuring the all filling stations in Nigeria get adequate fuel supplies to ease the long queues that came up few days at some filling stations across the country.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, Adewole Kehinde said that the NNPC has came out since February, 2021 through its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Kennie Obateru to say No Increase in Fuel Price in February and March 2021.

The statement further said that the Corporation was not contemplating any raise in the price of petrol in February and March in order not to jeopardize ongoing engagements with organized labour and other stakeholders on an acceptable framework that will not expose the ordinary Nigerian to any hardship.

“I must commend the NNPC for making ordinary Nigerians their priority in any decision they might want to take, Adewole said.

He said further since the NNPC has assured Nigerians that there is enough stock of petrol to keep the nation well supplied for over 40 days, there is no need for motorists to engage in panic buying.

Adewole called on the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to apply appropriate sanctions on marketers engaged in the hoarding of petroleum products in their outlets.

“Since there are enough products in the country, the DPR should work with the NNPC to sanction any marketer hoarding the products

“It is high time the regulatory agency set up a Special Task Force to intensify surveillance and monitor all retail outlets and depots nationwide to check the anomaly, Adewole concluded
