…Insists Amaechi, Former Transportation Minister, not Bothered by Smear Campaign
Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party, nPDP, and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has again reacted to a piece of falsehood earlier concocted peddled by mischief makers and now recycled by some media irritants prompted by hate campaigners to smear the spotless reputation of former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have responded to this deliberate but yet another concocted false narrative by one faceless paper tiger, who always deceptively tag himself as Mr. Ibe. However, I am bound to react because these series of media attacks are pointers to the fact Amaechi is a pragmatic political czar, visionary, team player and a force to reckon with as far as genuine democratic governance and leadership in Nigeria are concerned. For those of us in the Amaechi camp, we perceive those peddling these lies aimed at casting aspersion on the person of our principal, as those struggling to overcome the fear-of-unknown syndrome. Amaechi’s silence for more than a year in the political scheme of things in this country has caused sleepless nights, unimaginable fear and palpable tension to his detractors. You must not play mind game with falsehood or drag Amaechi’s reputation to the mud because you see him as a potential threat in the buildup to the next political dispensation.
Amaechi has been vocal about the troubling ineptitude and docile posture of the APC led Federal Government over the hostile economic situation in the country apparently reinforced by the thoughtless policies of the administration which have successfully driven Nigeria into its present hapless fate and have continued progressively, to commandeer the people deeper and deeper into abject poverty.
The concocted report credited to one nossypoker called Mr. Ibe, said Amaechi expresses regrets for joining and helping to build APC into a formidable political bloc after discovering the gamut of clandestine schemes projected by saboteurs within the party to frustrate his fortunes on the political playground.
Excerpts from the recycled falsehood read- “I started regretting my decision to join and expending so much on APC when I discovered some top APC chieftains from CPC and ACN blocs were working clandestinely against my confirmation as Minister by the National Assembly.
“If you recall, unlike other nominees, I attended several NASS screening sessions before I was attended to. I don’t know why they did it but if not for the firm stand of Dr Bukola Saraki, I wouldn’t have been confirmed as a minister.
“I will remain grateful to him. What they failed to do at the National Assembly they succeeded in doing when the President was apportioning ministerial portfolios. Against my wishes, I was given the minister of Transport.
“As if that is not humiliating enough, they removed the juicy department of that ministry( Aviation) and made it a semi-autonomous Ministry under my Minister of State. I cannot exonerate the President from not knowing how I am being shabbily treated because my pact was with him and he knew what my dues were supposed to be but today he has not redeemed any of the promises to me.
“I begin to ask myself every day why I made such a political blunder. The most painful thing is that the people who used to love me now hate me.
“They hate me for joining APC. Look,it is not about Goodluck or anybody. The people of Rivers see APC as a dubious arrangement and unanimously vowed never to support the party. If you want to prove me wrong, let Wike as powerful as he is now in the PDP try it by jumping to APC,he will never convince the people to go along with him.
“That is the mistake Akpabio just made. The people of Akwa Ibom,Cross Rivers and Rivers think same politically. APC can never be their choice of a political party. Don’t be deceived, these states do not want favors or anything from the CENTRE unlike most states….
“…It is because I have not been approached by any serious party. You know with my political standing, I should not be the one to beg parties to accept me. They should court and beg me to join them.
“Even if PDP comes calling now,I don’t know whether I have the courage to refuse them.”
Reacting through a statement made available to the media, Chief Eze discredited the authenticity of the report which he said is tactically embellished with some likely valid points to curry public validity, but insisted it never emanated from the former Transportation Minister as falsely portrayed.
“The report was deceitfully coined in a tone that suggests it emanated from the former Rivers Governor, whereas, the writer and his source have no link whatsoever with the south-south leader of the ruling APC”, Eze said.
Chief Eze who is a close ally of the former Governor and Minister further said “Amaechi never had any media audience with any faceless character neither did he authorize anyone anywhere to manufacture such falsehood as the report portrays.
Though the recycled report does not merit any response, however it is also pertinent to put facts in their proper perspective so as not to mislead the unsuspecting reading public who may be swayed by the grotesquely distorted information brandished in the media space.
At this point, I state here that the recent recycled trash by the said Ibe, a political grandstander, faceless mischief maker, blatant liar and morally debased fellow, is nothing but a hoax, false narrative, and unsubstantiated white lies resorted to by some media irritants and hate campaigners solely to smear the spotless reputation of Amaechi.
Amaechi’s perceived sin if any is his harmless but honest truth that the troubling ineptitude and docile posture of the APC led Federal Government have caused hostile economic situation in the country due to thoughtless anti people policies of the present administration, which have successfully driven Nigeria into its present hapless fate and have continued progressively, to commandeer the people deeper into abject poverty.
The fabricated report by the nossypoker called Mr. Ibe, stated that Amaechi had expressed regrets for joining and helping to build APC into a formidable political bloc after discovering the gamut of clandestine schemes projected by saboteurs within the party to frustrate his fortunes on the political playground.
The recent falsehood lacked an authenticated and verifiable imprimatur, and therefore, is liable to be deposited into the trash bin of insensitive statements from insane minds. The author of that satanic piece only tactically embellished his make-believe report with some likely valid points to curry public validity, however, I make bold to state unequivocally that such arrant nonsense never emanated from the former Transportation Minister as falsely portrayed.
The report was deceitfully coined in a tone that suggests it emanated from the former Rivers State Governor, whereas, the imaginary writer and his source have no link whatsoever with the South-South leader of the ruling APC.
To set the records straight, Amaechi neither had any media audience with any faceless character, nor did he authorize anyone anywhere to manufacture such falsehood as the report aimed to portray. The statement was aimed at tarnishing Amaechi’s image and cause rift between him and genuine members of APC and by extension, opposition politicians who share similar views on the need to salvage the country’s economy from nosediving.
I repeat, Amaechi does not entertain any regrets in joining hands with other founding members and sacrificially contributing to building and nurturing the APC into a formidable political party.
Like every other Nigerian, Amaechi is only full of regrets for the odious insensitivity of the ruling class to the plight of the ordinary people of the country and the difficult times the loud negligence of government holds as a consequence. But then, the author of the recycled piece is on the frolic of his own to score a cheap political goal, and was not by any way engaged by Amaechi.
It is instructive to warn the fickle minded Ibe, his co-blackmailers, co-conspirators and all those peddling and recycling the false narrative to desist from such infantile indulgences as such will not earn them a response from the revered nationalist.
If not that Amaechi mobilised men and resources to cause APC to win the 2015 Presidential election, he would have been dead by now, considering the boast of his former Chief of Staff, Barr. Nyesom Wike, who later became the Governor of Rivers State, at that time that all borders would have been closed to ensure the arrest and incineration of Amaechi. The records are there for all to see. Which human being in Nigeria’s political space will be so threatened the way Amaechi was threatened at that period without looking for a way out to save his head. That Amaechi is still alive today is because of the formation of APC and her victory during the 2015 general elections. So, how can Amaechi now regret ever joining APC as being postulated by one lunatic and habitual liar, Ibeh.
The truth remains unassailable and incontrovertible that Amaechi used APC to showcase his prowess in innovative leadership and administration by the legacies he bestowed to Nigeria and Nigerians through his revolution in the Ministry of Transportation. The fact remains that the shoe Amaechi left at the Ministry can hardly be worn by any other person so appointed into that Ministry. Amaechi left an indelible footprint on the sands of time as far as purposeful and pragmatic leadership are concerned while he held sway as a Minister.
So, if at all Amaechi should have any regret about APC, it is the efforts by some greedy fellows, self serving political bigots and nepotists who are currently running the party and the APC government who have no idea of the vision of the party thereby causing Nigerians untold and unmitigated pains. This barrage of blackmail is because Amaechi is currently setting up a think-tank and governance agenda on how to recover and reposition the party to accomplish the vision of the founding fathers
I there urge Nigerians to exercise a little patience as the unveiling of the true APC will soon be highlighted, notwithstanding the grand design and plot to viciously use faceless media terrorists to attack those who mean well for the party tagged as perceived political foes.
