At the instance of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, a team led by AG Dr Aminu Umar Yuguda, Hon. Commissioner of Water Resources, Mohammed Saidu Mohammed Fawu, Director-General (Press Affairs) Gombe Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, GM Water Board, JED Regional Manager, CGC team lead, and other officials, we were at the Dadinkowa treatment plant for an ‘on the spot’ assessment of the emergency work, and to encourage the technical team fixing the electrical faults that occurred as a result of windstorm which caused water supply disruption to Gombe Metropolis and environs.
According to a press release on Saturday, 4th May 2024 signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs) Gombe Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said that the technical team had earlier replaced all 31 broken-down electric poles, fixed the power cables and restored the electricity supply to the water treatment plant which enabled the production of millions of litres since Wednesday and pumping of same earlier today to the public before another glitch halted the process, albeit temporarily.
As confirmed by the Commissioner of Water Resources, everything is now in place, with water now being transported from the Dadinkowa treatment plant to the lower and upper zones in Gombe for onward distribution to the people at any moment.
AG Yuguda however insisted that stop-gap measures must be taken, and reminded of His Excellency’s directive to ensure that Malam Inna and Wuro Juli water projects become fully operational soonest to guard against this type of ugly situation.
