Days after invading Opu-Nembe (Bassambiri) community in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team deployed by the acting Inspector General of Police today stormed the nearby Ogbolomabiri community.
Community sources say the SWAT squad was accompanied on the raid by armed thugs of one Kojo Sam, who had earlier visited mayhem on Opu-Nembe.
The team reportedly arrived in Ogbolomabiri at about 1.30 pm in five Hilux vehicles and was there till about 3 pm.
They were said to have raided the residence of one Chief Amabebe Ikiba, destroying the doors and ransacking his home for about an hour before going to the family compound of a former Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), where they reportedly shot sporadically for 30 minutes.
They also went to Obolomabio, another section of the community, and started shooting at Bassambiri from there.
The SWAT team had on Saturday, August 12, invaded Opu-Nembe alongside thugs in military camouflage at about 7.30 pm.
In the shooting and panic that ensued, several individuals sustained injuries. Some of the injured are still hospitalised.
