…. Implore both Elders, Stakeholders and all those who love Rivers State to rally around the Governor and save the State from internal and external enemies of the State
Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze says Gov. Siminialayi Fubara must be wary of one crotchety political jobber and Wike’s hireling, Mr. Tony Okocha, whose notoriety in commercial politicking is symbolic of his natural, age-long voyage of self destruct.
Mr. Tony Okocha had, during a meeting with some individuals of his ilk, asked Gov. Siminialayi Fubara to re-present the 2024 budget of the state to some former Lawmakers for passage even though the same had been presented to a legally constituted legislature during plenary and passed into law after thorough scrutiny and deliberation.
Excerpts from Mr. Okocha’s statement reads “We frown at the governor’s impunity in running Rivers State without a Budget. However, we remind him that it will amount to gross financial misconduct for him to continue on this dangerous voyage.
“This might sound unpalatable and annoying. As a party in opposition in the state, we have applied and received data on the sum received by the Rivers state government from Federal Allocation.
“From June 22, 2023, to November 2023. It is our finding that a whooping sum of N144,291,667,791.01 has been received from Federal Allocation under FAAC.
“This amount is besides internally generated Revenue of the state which is put on conservatively N10-billion every month. We regret that this humongous amount has not been transmitted to action in any way in terms of development in the state.”
Reacting to Okocha’s amusing bit of foolery, Eze said the former aide to Amaechi is on the frolics of his own – having no mandate to speak for APC in Rivers. And as a harbinger of Wike’s selfish political misadventure, he only exhibited a tip of another premeditated crafty scheme devised against the Rivers Governor, which must be detonated with dispatch.
In a statement made available to the media, Chief Eze said the unsavory comment credited to Mr. Okocha compels one to ask where he was in the 8 years of Wike’s administration where the state annual budgets were shrouded in secrecy to the delight of same Lawmakers ; unwitting victims of Wike’s political misadventure who have suddenly retreated from slumber to put up a fight after they’ve lost their seats.
Eze condemned in strong terms the actions of former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is clearly fighting the state through the instrumentality of some ex- Lawmakers still laying claim to their former seats to ferment trouble in a bid to sabotage the smooth administration of the state and incite the people against the government of the day.
It is unheard of that Lawmakers who freely exited their seats still convene plenaries to make laws; laws that only service the interest of Nyesom Wike to the detriment of the state government and the good people of Rivers State.
More worrisome is the fact that the political madness currently in exhibition in the state enjoys the approval of President Bola Tinubu who chose to back the crude political advances of Wike against the government and people of the state.
The former lawmakers despite their exit have continued to dish out obnoxious laws that have made it clearly difficult for government to function and yet there seems to be no institution capable of stopping them because they have the backing of the President and the Police which in saner climes functions to protect the constitutional interest of the country, is servicing whims of the President and his bunch of bootlicking loyalists.
Responding to Okocha’s quest to know what Fubara has achieved with the Federal Allocations and internal generated revenue he has received so far, Eze said despite the glee of distractions from Wike and his team, Fubara has offset the accumulated Pension arrears of Pensioners who were overlooked all through the years Wike held sway as Governor.
The Governor also gave Christmas allowance of 100k to each and every civil servant under the state payroll. And aside that the sad State of the State Secretariat ignored by Wike is receiving attention.
Furthermore, Eze notes that apart from major internal roads that have been executed by the Fubara administration, the multi-billion naira ring road involving multiple Local Governments will be concluded before the end of the year.
Eze promised to buy fuel for Tony Okocha to power his vehicle to enable him move to the Greater Port Harcourt City to see the ever biggest Housing Project embarked upon by any State Government including the Federal government comprising of over 20,000 Houses while the Federal government could only embark upon about 3,000 Renewed Hope Housing Project at Abuja.
While urging Gov, Fubara to throw Okocha and his ill-laden, worthless, and valueless opinion into the waste-bin, Eze counseled Okocha and his congregation of ex-lawmakers to learn to appreciate good deeds so that good things will not elude them in life.
Eze concluded by Imploring both the Elders, Stakeholders and all those who love the progress and greatness of Rivers State to rally around the Governor at this period and save the State from the hands of internal and external enemies of the State
