The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi said that the NITDA is on the right path to building a digital Nigeria, using exsiting regulations and development enshrined in the National Economy Policy and Strategy.
Abdullahi said this at the official closing ceremony of the Batch – 8 series of capacity building on e-Government Services for Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Represented by the Director, e-Government Training centre, Kubwa Professor Suleiman Mohammed, Abdullahi remarked that Digital Transformation is relevant in improving the services of Government and will go a long way in improving the standard of living of Nigerians.
He noted that the public service is the engine room in the implementation of government policies and programmes and as such building the capacity of public officers for efficient delivery of government mandate is a number one priority of any government.
He stated that part of the requirement for the implementation of the National Digital Economy Strategy is to have skilled manpower in public service to be able to deliver on the strategies embedded in the plan.
He said, What we have done in the past five days is like building a foundation and we are the foundation that we have built for our different MDAs.”
“Heavy skilled manpower is part of the National Digital economy policy and Strategy. This knowledge should be applied in your various organisations and ensure you impact it on others. He specifically charged beneficiaries of the training to play the role of advocacy for the digital economy and digital transformation,” he added.
Abdullahi further urged the participants whom he tagged champions of e-government policy to always be good ambassadors of good governance in Nigeria, noting that this training will help to ensure that the use of technology in running government activities becomes part of public service.
Fifty participants were issued certificates. Seven participants took third position, four participants came second and the first position went to Mrs Itoi Ekaete Ohanusi of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
