The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has made clarifications about police checkpoints on Nigerian roads.
Reacting to a tweet by one Dan Baba, @Danbabanaija, who tweeted, “Oga Prince, your officers are extorting Nigerians on the Benin-Ore road,” Why do we still have police checkpoints when the IG says checkpoints are illegal? “Is it true that those officers will return to Abuja?”
Adejobi said, “The IGP has never said policemen should not stop and search on Road No. However, the directive is to do it with a sense of decorum and professionalism.
“We can’t afford not to have policemen along our highways for now. So they are crucial to safeguarding our ways.
“I am sure many people have benefited from visibility policing, and they can attest to it.
