We Will Sustain Onslaught Against Banditry, Other Related Crimes – CP Zamfara

…….Arrest two bandits’ collaborators who supply fuel to bandits operating in the Dankurmi forest

The doggedness of the Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Police Command CP Kolo Yusuf is yielding positive results in the ongoing fight against Banditry, Kidnapping and other related crime in Zamfara State as the Command arrests three banditry-related suspects.

According to a press release on Saturday, 1st October 2022 signed by the Zamfara State Command Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu ANIPR, he said that on 25th September 2022, Police Tactical Operatives while on midnight patrol within Gusau Metropolis acted on intelligence information and trailed a Golf Vehicle with Reg. No. Lagos EJ 556 LSD and arrested the driver Surajo Yahaya inside a filling station located along Garejin Mailena – Wanke Road Gusau.

Acting on intelligence report, the vehicle was loaded with empty Jerry cans and was received by the security guard of the filling station named Bello Abubakar which was meant for taking fuel and conveying same to bandits at Dankurmi forest for their deadly operations.

The search was conducted at the filling station, leading to the recovery of 47 empty Jerry cans of 25 liters each.

Also, 70 loaves of Bread and Ninety-Two Thousand Naira (N92, 000) were recovered.

It could be recalled that the Zamfara State Government in its recent security measures to curve banditry and other heinous crime, banned the sale of fuel in Jerry cans and large quantities.

Also, on 24th September 2022, Police Tactical Operatives acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit who has been terrorizing innocent members of the public in Zurmi, B/Magaji, and K/Namoda LGAs respectively.

Intelligence further revealed that the suspect has been into cattle rustling, receiving, and selling rustled animals in different parts of the state. The discreet investigation is in progress aimed at arresting his partner in crime and charge to court for prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police while reassuring the public of the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property, appeals for continuous collaboration with the Police and other security agencies to rid the state of criminal activities.
