We Will Sustain Our Efforts To End Insecurity In Zamfara State – CP Kolo Yusuf

The Zamfara Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, on Wednesday, reiterated police commitment to end banditry and other security challenges facing the state.

This was made known by the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu while parading Sixteen suspects arrested for various offenses, ranging from Banditry, Cattle Rustling, Kidnapping, Culpable Homicide, Armed Robbery, Car Snatching, and other related offenses.

SP Muhammad Shehu said that the Commissioner of Police’s new crime-fighting strategies are yielding positive results and are currently curtailing the lingering insecurity bedeviling Zamfara State for over a decade.

The following is a list of suspects arrested and brief facts of their case;
Recovery of two AK-47 rifles during an encounter with bandits’ terrorists in some locations of the state

Between Friday 11th to Monday 14th November 2022 Police Tactical Operatives deployed to some locations that are prone to bandits’ attack under the Dansadau Emirate of the State received distress calls about plans by bandits to attack the communities. The operatives responded promptly and moved to the location to repel the attack, whereby a serious gun battle ensued between the bandits and operatives. Fortunately, the attack was repelled forcing the hoodlums to flee into the forest with possible gunshot wounds. Two AK-47 rifles with thirty-five (35) rounds of live ammunition and some bunch of charms belonging to the bandits were recovered at the scene.

The arrest of two bandits for kidnapping and cattle rustling in some parts of Gusau and Bukkuyum LGAs

The names of the suspect are: Sujora Almande ‘M’ Aged 20 Years Old Of Kotorkoshi in Bungudu LGA and Bage Mohammed ‘M’ Aged 40 Years Old

Within the week under review, Police Tactical Operatives while on confidence-building patrol along Gusau – Funtua road, acting on intelligence information that led to the arrest of a notorious bandit’s kingpin named Sujora Almandawi as one of the bandits terrorizing villages in Tsafe, Kotorkoshi, Damba and some outskirts of Gusau. Further intelligence information revealed that the suspect was involved in several attacks on villages, Cattle Rustling, Kidnapping, and other related crimes along these routes.

In the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to serial kidnapping and cattle rustling in more than Ten (10) Communities in Gusau, Tsafe, and Bungudu LGAs, where they collected millions of Naira from the relations of victims as ransom. The suspect further confessed to rustling an unspecified number of cows.

In the case of Bage Mohammed, the suspect was arrested by the joint Police and Vigilante while on confidence-building patrol along Anka – Bukkuyum road. The arrest was a sequel to an intelligence report received about the suspect and his involvement in the attack on some villages in Bukkuyum and the kidnapping of eleven persons in Dargaji village. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to several attacks, kidnappings, and the rustling of an unspecified number of cows and sheep in some parts of Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi LGAs.The suspect is currently assisting the Police with useful information for more arrests and recovery.

Smash of armed robbery syndicate that specialized in car snatching at gunpoint in Abuja, Kaduna, and other states

The names of the suspects are; Mohammed Sani ‘M’ aged 22 yrs old, Bello Abdullahi ‘M’ aged 35 yrs old, and Magaji Adamu ‘M’ aged 28 yrs old the exhibits recovered: One Beretta Pistol and one Hyundai vehicle safe kept at State CID Kaduna.

Police Tactical operatives of the Command acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of the above-mentioned suspects. The suspects belong to a notorious Car snatching syndicate that possessed guns for snatching cars from innocent members of the public. In the course of the investigation, all the suspects confessed to several cars snatching at gunpoint in Abuja, Kaduna, and Suleja in Niger State. They further confessed that all the robbed vehicles were either sold in Niger republic or Kano State before the nemesis was caught off with them or arrested by the Police.

The arrest of three suspects for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide

The names of the suspects are: Kabiru Idi ‘M’ 35 Years Old, Danhauwa Kalla ‘M’ 31 Years Old, And Majami Iliya ‘M’ 27 Years Old

On 3rd November 2022, Police detectives attached to Anti Violence Squad arrested the above-mentioned suspects in connection with the kidnapping and suspected murder of a 6-year-old child Laminu Sani ‘M’ of the Bulunku area, Gusau. The complainant Mallam Sani Garba reported to the Police sometime in 2020 that one of the suspects Kabiru Idi ‘M’ of Yarkatsina village in Bungudu LGA rented a room in his house and stayed for 3 months, during which he conspired with his collaborators and kidnapped the victim to collect ransom from the father. In the course of the investigation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and further explained their role in the kidnapping of the child.

The arrest of the suspect for criminal conspiracy, shop breaking, and theft

The names of the suspects are Bello Mohammed ‘M’ 40 Years Old of Gadar Baga Area Gusau and Umar Mercy ‘M’ Now At Large while the exhibit recovered are some rappers

On 12th November 2022, Police detectives arrested the above-mentioned suspect following a complaint of shop breaking and theft at old Market Gusau sometime in August 2022. According to the complainant, the value of the clothing materials stolen in the shop was Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N700,000) and also the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira cash (N500,000) was equally stolen by the suspects. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that he conspired with one Umar Mercy to break into the shop and committed the act.

The arrest of two suspects in possession of dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp.

The names of the suspects are: Hussaini Abubakar ‘M’ Aged 47 Years, Yusha’u Ibrahim ‘M’ Aged 19 Years, and Abdulmalik Aliyu ‘M’ Aged 20 Years Old

Exhibits recovered from them are: A sack containing dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp and different types of hard drugs

Between 12th and 13th November 2022, Police Operatives while on surveillance patrol within Gusau metro intercepted and arrested the above-mentioned suspects. On spot search, a large quantity of dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp and different types of hard drugs were recovered in their possession. Intelligence information revealed that the suspected Indian hemp and drugs would be supplied to bandits in the forest. In the course of interrogation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and are currently assisting the Police with useful information for more arrest and recovery.

The arrest of four suspects for criminal conspiracy, abduction, and rape the names of the suspects are: Isiyaka Abdullahi ‘M’ Aged 35 Years Old, Abdulhami Yusuf ‘M’ Aged 22 Years Old, Muhammad Lawali ‘M’ Aged 20 Years Old and Bara’u Abdullahi ‘M’ Aged 28 Years Old

On 1st November 2022 Police detectives attached Anti-Violence Squad arrested the above-mentioned suspects in connection with the above offenses. The arrest was a sequel to a complaint received from the father of the victim Luba Lawali ‘F’ of Hayin Buba area Gusau who was abducted by the suspects and raped from 25th October 2022 until the 1st of November, 2022 when nemesis caught off with them and arrested by the Police. All the suspects will be charged to Court for Prosecution, upon completion of the investigation.
