YAN To Embark On Food Donation Program

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) is to embark on Food Donation Program aimed at helping the youths in various communities during the holidays.

The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) is the apex youth decision-making body in Nigeria

It runs a Parliamentary (legislative) system of government with conglomeration of all state youth Ambassadors as parliamentarians. FCT inclusive under the leadership of the National Speaker Rt. Hon Shuaibu Sani

Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) has thirty-seven (37) Youth Ambassadors, each representing the 36 states in Nigeria including FCT Abuja, 109 Coordinators for the 109 senatorial zones, 774 coordinators for the 774 local governments and wards as there are state, senatorial zone, local government and ward chapters. It has a Diaspora-Directorate with a Head of Mission (Ambassador) and Director General coordinating Diaspora affairs.

As the voice of the Nigerian youths for societal change and development, the Youth Assembly is equipped and charged in all ramifications to propagate and seal the problems facing our beloved country Nigeria.

According to the Head of Mission (Ambassador) & Director General of YAN Diaspora-Directorate, H.E Helen Mukoro Idisi, she said that “the holidays, especially in December prove to be very challenging time for the homeless and YAN Food Program will help the youths in our communities during the holidays.

“Feeding needy and homeless families is the first move in nation building and it is an important initiative because, part of YAN Diaspora Directorate agenda is to end generational poverty in Nigeria.

“And the food and cash donation giveaway will help. For us, at YAN as an Assembly, it puts the giving back, peace, justice, equity and nation building action into the holiday season.

“YOU CAN’T BUILD A COUNTRY without FEEDING THE NEEDY.

“YAN remains committed to our mission during the COVID-19 health pandemic and your support as YAN state and local government ambassador and speaker in your state is needed now more than ever, don’t abandon the needy when they need you most.

“We encourage you to go to your Churches, Mosques or religious centres, plead with the religious leaders or any NGO president, ask him or her to lend you their premises and they should also invite their members and communities to participate and to donate food and cash, beg them to announce the event during their religious services.

“You can also invite local government political aspirants, political parties, women traditional groups and associations, philanthropist, etc, and ask them to participate in this event. Crime in our communities is high due to hunger and our work is important.

“Together we can keep this high rate downward if we could implement the Food donation trend going. We have designed a complete project on how to implement this program.

“All YAN Diaspora Directorate appointed officials in Nigeria are also directed to participate, Helen Mukoro Idisi said.
