The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Kashifu Inuwa has implored Corps members to take the best advantage of Digital Economy Employability Programme because it may turn out to be a life changer for them.
The DG said this on Saturday, 10th December 2022 as a keynote speaker at Digital Economy Employability Programme (DEEP) in Abuja.
He implores the Corps members to ensure that they participate in every class and every course curated for this programme and as they heed this advice, he assured them that they will be on their way to being the next sensational icon in the global digital space.
The Digital Economy Employability Programme will focus on providing Nigerians with modern and relevant digital literacy and skills that will expose, prepare and connect the Corps members to in-demand career opportunities that are available in the global digital economy.
Also, the Digital Economy Employability Programme will provide Nigerians with a higher probability of employment.
Additionally, the programme will help create the opportunity for Nigerians to also create job opportunities within the digital economy space which will ultimately help increase the contribution of ICT to the country’s GDP which currently stands at 18.44%.
Kashifu said that the outcome of the programme will help the country improve its efforts at moving the country from a resource-based economy to a digital and knowledge-based economy.
He further reiterated that the programme will particularly focus on trending digital technologies and digital business strategies that will help participants discover opportunities in the global digital economy.
“Given our huge population of about 218 million and of which about 50% is constituted by youths, we have enough potential human capital to drive the data economy, and that is why we have decided to flag off this programme in 7 NYSC strategic camps.
“We believe that the NYSC camps hold the brightest and the most intelligent Nigerian Youths.
“We believe that corps members will not only benefit from this programme but will also create a multiplier effect by transferring the knowledge and skills acquired during this programme to other Nigerian and this will help the country realize its target of 95% digitally literate Nigerians by 2030
He said that there is no better time to embrace digital transformation than now.
He continued, “The world is moving away from a natural resource-based economy to a digital and knowledge-based economy, more attention and efforts are being put into human capital and digital technologies and Nigeria should not be left out of this fast-moving train.
