The Integrity Youth Alliance has berated the Arewa Accountability Network (AAN) for calling for the resignation of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kolo Kyari, after he attained the mandatory retirement age of 60.
In a statement on Thursday signed by Comrade Adewole Kehinde, Board Chairman of the Alliance, he said that the Arewa Accountability Network (AAN) should be educated enough to know that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company is a limited company and not under the civil service category.
“A simple Google search or AI would have saved the Arewa Accountability Network (AAN) from the national embarrassment they put themselves through with a baseless communique on Monday after a press conference in Abuja, Adewole said.
“It is not also true that fuel queues have returned across the country despite the high cost of petrol. Rather, Nigeria prefers to buy from the NNPC filling station due to the low price.
“We never knew that the Arewa Accountability Network (AAN) has joined the group of baseless NGOs who threatened to mobilise its members and shut down the NNPCL Towers and go behind to beg for money from the NNPCL Management.
“We call on the security agencies to immediately arrest the leadership of the Arewa Accountability Network (AAN) now, as they represent economic sabotage to the nation, the statement concluded.
