Youth Workers To Mark International Youth Work Week 2020

The Nigeria Youth Workers Association, umbrella body for Youth work practisoiners and a platform for them to be connected, effective, ethical and accountable to themselves, their communities and to the young people they work with.

In a press release jointly signed by its National Chairman, Sir Ben Duntoye and National General Secretary, Hajia Hadiza Lawan Buba, it says NYWA membership includes Career Youth Workers, youth development officers, experienced past and current youth leaders, employees/office holders of faith based and community based youth organizations, youth coaches, mentors and youth councilors.

NYWA is an affiliate of the Commonwealth Alliance of Youth Workers Association (CAYWA); that brings together National and Regional Organizations from Member Countries in addressing Professional Youth Work at the global level.

The International Youth Work Week Celebration 2020 holds between 2th and 7th November 2020. The event which holds annually across the world is designed to put to the front burner issues of Youth Work globally.

We join others globally most expecially in the Commonwealth to celebrate.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Ambitious for Youth Work.” The grand finale of the event holds at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Friday 6th November 2020.

The event which is the first of its kind Nigeria will host Youth Workers from across the 36 states of the Federation including the FCT in attendance and will have in attendance the British High Commissioners, Hon Minister for Youth and Sports Department among other dignitaries.

During this epoch making event, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of River State, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON, GSSRS, P.O.S (Africa) will be presented with Award of Excellence in Youth Development. This is In recognition of the Governor’s outstanding contributions to Youth Development in Nigeria. Governor Wike will also be decorated as Life Patron of the Association.
