Yuletide: Police Commissioner Congratulates Oyo State Residents

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Adebola A. Hamzat felicitates with the entire good people of Oyo State ahead of the Christmas and forthcoming New Year celebrations.

According to a press release on Saturday, 23rd December 2023 signed by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Osifeso Adewale, said that in the spirit of the season, the CP has ordered that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Department/formations and Tactical Commanders to deploy adequate personnel and resources throughout the length and breadth of Oyo State particularly at all critical infrastructures, recreational facilities, Media Houses, Banks, Correctional centers, Public Spaces, Places of Worship and all adjoining highways and routes within and outside Oyo State.

CP Hamzat gave this directive during a strategic end-of-the-year security meeting with the officers on Thursday 21st December 2023 at the Command’s Conference Hall, at Eleyele, Ibadan.

The event also witnessed the dismissal of two Special Constabularies who openly solicited money from a Foreign Female Tourist as captured on a viral video along Oyo Road on Sunday, 29th October 2023.

The statement read, “In the light of the above, the CP has directed that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders should increase layers of supervision around their subordinates particularly men on the field who daily interface with commuters and other civilian population while the Command’s Monitoring and X-squad units have been tasked to deal decisively with any officer whose actions or inactions bring about embarrassment to the Command and by extension the Police Force through extortion, incivilities and other professional misconducts.

“The CP on behalf of the Officers and Men of the Oyo State Police Command wishes its numerous partners especially sister security services, the media, and other stakeholders’ crime-free holidays ahead.

“Residents are reminded that the ban on procurement and sales of fireworks remains in force as defaulters would be thoroughly sanctioned.

“The CP enjoins the peace-loving people of Oyo State to give credible information to the Police for effective crime management. If you see something, say something and the police will immediately do something.
