The Director General/CEO of National Identity Management Commission, Engr. Aliyu A. Aziz has reiterated its Commission’s commitment towards ensuring a strong foundational Digital ID system implementation as identification is central to realizing Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan and works hand in hand with greater use of internet, payments and skills for a vibrant digital economy in Nigeria.
Engr. Aliyu A. Aziz made this known at the celebration of Digital Nigeria Day held at Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy Complex Mbora Abuja on Saturday 24th October 2020.
He further said that the push for utilizing digital technologies to transform every aspect of our endeavors and lives is one we should embrace, exploit and leverage to increase efficiency and effectiveness of both the public and privates sectors; and also fully participate in the digital economy.
“Digital transformation of Nigeria will help to enhance and ensure our country’s economic, social and developmental progress.
“As we use this platform to create the much-needed awareness, advocate for state and local government participation and charge every sector to embrace the clarion call for digital Nigeria, we must not lose sight of the great divide that exists between the digital have and digital have nots.
“This is the time for us as stakeholders to work harder and deploy resources towards bridging the gap.
“The 8 pillars of the National digital Economy policy and strategy has provided a clear roadmap and direction for us and we must embark on this journey with all diligence, commitment bearing in mind the great economic opportunities that lie ahead for us and the future generation, Engr. Aliyu Aziz said.
“By taking a holistic approach towards the digital Nigeria agenda, we must place a strong focus on both our individual and collective responsibilities as partners in the drive to foster digital inclusion and boost the growth and prosperity of every sector of the economy. We must mobilize political will, resources, skills and knowledge to address Nigeria’s digital challenges and facilitate the transition to a vibrant, inclusive and safe digital economy, Engr.
