Enugu Guber Election Results Suspension: Police Commissioner Calls On Political Parties, Supporters To Remain Law-Abiding And Patient

……Warns against incisive utterances, states police readiness to deal decisively with troublemakers

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani has urged political parties, their candidates and supporters, the electorate, and citizens of the State to remain law-abiding and patiently wait for further actions by the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC), following the Commission’s suspension of the Governorship Election Results Collation for Nkanu East and Nsukka Local Government Areas.

A statement on Monday, 20th March 2023 signed by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the Commissioner, while appreciating the peaceful disposition of the electorate during the Elections, has warned those planning to hide under the Elections to foment trouble, to desist forthwith; as the Police will not hesitate to deal decisively with any person or persons found breaching public peace in the State.

The CP further warns political parties, their candidates, and supporters to desist from making unguided utterances and using social media to create and peddle information around the Elections, in such a way as to cause tension and/or incite people to violence, especially through unapproved protests in contravention of the provisions of the Public Order Act 2004.
