Nasarawa Government Purchase 50 Vehicles For Magistrates In The State
Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has stressed the importance of providing conducive working environment for the judiciary as people saddled with the responsibility of ensuring the prevailance of justice.
Engineer Abdullahi Sule made this known when he received the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, Nasarawa State Chapter who were at the Government House Lafia for a thank you visit to the Governor on Friday.
The Governor while applauding the Magistrates for their show of integrity, accountability and dignity, said he is pleased with their ability to judiciously use the little resources provided them to purchase luxurious vehicles that portrays them and the state in good light.
“I was touched when I received the news of a Magistrate involved in an accident on a motorcycle while on his way to the office and that was the moment I became touched and saw the need for these cars to be made available for the judges”. Engr Sule maintained.
In his remarks, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kana the Governor approved the release of funds to the fifty Magistrates in the state for the purpose of procuring vehicles and same funds were augmented by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko.
Kana maintained that “The monies after approval was released to each of the Magistrates to personally purchase vehicles through their various vendors and that’s for the purpose of transparency that the Governor stands for”
He stressed that the Magistrates were in Government House to appreciate the Governor for the gesture and also seek his blessings for the vehicles purchased with the released funds.
While appreciating Governor Abdullahi Sule for the onerous gesture which is the first of its kind in the state, the state Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko appealed to the Governor to furnish the already built High Court Complex in order to put it to proper use in the interest of justice.
In a vote of thanks, the state Chairman of Magistrates Association of Nigeria, Abdullahi Hassan Shams Shama expressed excitement over the gesture considering the fact that the agitation of the Magistrates to have these vehicles have long been overdue.
Shams Shama added that “We are grateful that God has touched your heart and you saw the wisdom to provide us with funds to have these cars with the support of the Chief Judge”.
He then used the medium to call on the Governor and the security agencies in the state to work towards the release of one of the Magistrates who has been kidnapped.
