Osun NSCDC Seeks Collaboration With Nigerian Army And Immigration Service

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Akintayo Adaralewa paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, Engineer Construction Command, Nigerian Army , Ede, Brigadier General Aliyu Abdulkareem and the Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service, Osun State Command, CIS A.O Bewaji, in continuation of his familiarization visit to sister agencies across Osun State,

In a press release on Thursday, 8th February 2024 signed by the Civil Defence PRO, Osun State Command, ASC Adeleke Kehinde, said that while stating the purpose of his visit, Commandant Akintayo Adaralewa commen Nigerian Army for the existing working relationship which has resulted in a strong collaboration with NSCDC. He noted that the Corps has benefitted from military trainings at various times. He acknowledged that NSCDC is a proud product of the military. He, therefore, solicited more trainings and re-trainings of personnel to enhance optimal operational performance while discharging duties to the nation.

The Commandant also hinted that NSCDC is saddled with the responsibility of protection of school children across the country, which is in addition to the mandates of the Corps. Commandant Adaralewa explained further that the safe school initiative also aims at combating cultism, drug abuse and other social vices in schools.

In his reaction, the Commander of Nigerian Army, Enigineer Construction Command, Ede, Brigadier General Aliyu AbdulKareem acknowledged the existing relationship between Nigerian Army and NSCDC. He also called for a stronger synergy to tackle the spate of security challenges in the state.

The Commander who harped on proactive intelligence said, NSCDC and other sister agencies are saddled with internal security, and as such, they are closer to members of the public. He, therefore, urged the citizens to make useful intelligence available to Nigerian Army and NSCDC in order to nip crimes in the bud.

Brigadier General Abdulkareem also assured of his much needed support for training and retraining of personnel. He commended the command for its commitment to securing lives and property, particularly in safe guarding critical national infrastructure.

Also speaking at Nigerian Immigration Service, Osun State Command, Commandant Adaralewa said both agencies are under the Ministry of Interior, hence, the need to complement each other to achieve national security. He said that NSCDC is looking forward to a high level of cooperation with NIS.

Responding, the NIS Comptroller, Osun State Command, CIS A.O Bewaji stressed the need to educate personnel on inter-agency collaboration, saying synergy remains the bedrock of achieving maximum security ‘’no security agency can do it alone, we need ourselves to conquer these common enemies, bandits, criminals, kidnappers and others”
