……Recovers one fabricated pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, ammunition, and cartridges
The Nigeria Police Force in Delta State on Monday said the command has arrested two armed robbery suspects in Kwale in Ndokwa-West LGA and Isiokolo Ethiope East LGA of the state.
This was contained in the statement issued and signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe on Monday, noting that the hoodlums were caught on Wednesday, 04 October 2023, and Saturday, 07 October 2023 at about 1630hrs and 1320hrs respectively.
Edafe noted that one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, two 9mm live ammunition, two locally made single barrel shotguns, and two live cartridges were recovered.
The statement reads; “Concerted efforts to rid the state of illicit firearms led to the arrest of one suspect in Asaba on Wednesday, 04 October 2023. At about 1630hrs, while operatives of SACU were on a routine patrol along Cable Road, Asaba, they accosted a motorcyclist and his passenger who upon sighting the patrol team hastily jumped down from the moving motorcycle and took to their hills.
“These suspects were given a hot chase, where one 27-year-old male suspect, Ifakachukwu Igwala from Kwale in Ndokwa-West LGA was arrested. The suspects were carrying a handbag, when the bag was searched one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, two 9mm live ammunition, one locally made single barrel shotgun, and one live cartridge were recovered.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect operates alongside his accomplice named Kelvin surname unknown (at large) The suspect is in custody and the effort to arrest his fleeing accomplice is ongoing.
“In another development, on 7/10/2023, at about 1320hours, operatives of the command Rapid Response Squad acting a credible information stormed Oviorie community Isiokolo Ethiope East LGA Delta state where one Ebireri Morisson ‘m’ aged 40yrs of the same community was arrested at his drug patent shop.
“Upon searching the premises, one locally fabricated short gun, and one live cartridge were recovered. The suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
“The Delta State Police Commissioner CP Wale Abass, assures that the command has meticulously emplaced essential deployments and security measures for the ember months. On that note, the officers and men are utmostly dedicated to keeping the peace, and implementing the laws while taking concrete steps to ensure accountability, transparency, and maximal professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
