Police Ban Sales/Unauthorise Use Of Fireworks In Nasarawa State
….. Orders full enforcement of the ban
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada has ordered a ban on the sale and unauthorized use of fireworks (knockouts or bangers) in the State.
A statement signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said that the ban becomes necessary due to the dangers associated with the sale and unauthorized use which includes but is not limited to criminals using it to carry out criminal acts, creating tension, its high tendency to cause bodily injuries and causing fire outbreaks.
The Commissioner of Police therefore warned dealers and users of knockouts to desist forthwith and urged parents/guardians to discourage their children and wards from buying and igniting fireworks as anyone caught would be made to face the full weight of the law.
